Glastonbudget May 24th-26th 2013 – Mini Report
Glastonbudget 2013 featured a mixture of tributes to some of the world’s biggest acts and up and coming new bands from across The Midlands and I was lucky enough to be covering the entire event.
The first day was a complete wash out and sticking with festival tradition it rained, hailed and blew 50mph gusts of wind. The mud was starting to get very festival-like and I thought it was the start of things to come. But then on the Saturday the clouds parted, the rain dispersed and the sun shone and shone.
Tributes included Abba Revival, The Black Eyed Peaz, One Step Behind, Oasish, Knot Slip and to many more to list. Who all put on a great show for the high brow low budget affair.
There where also some great local bands such as the recent OBS winners Leaving Party, The fantastic Deli’s Mix and speaker-popping Formal Warning. All of these bands certainly flew the flag for Leicester Music and we can no doubt expect to see them again next year.
For me the highlight of the Glastonbduget weekender was on Saturday night which featured some of the best 80’s acts on the planet; The Christians, Howard Jones, Heaven 17 and headliners ABC all played some memorable classics which whisked me back to my childhood.
All in all it was a great weekend and I would recommend anyone to check out Glastonbudget 2014.
