Leicester LPPG Ian Davies to Hold His Own Photo Exhibition
Everyone is waiting with bated breath to see the up and coming exhibition being put on by The Leicester Peoples Photographic Gallery by gallery curator Ian Davies. His personal exhibition will be on from 22nd January 2013 to 16th February 2013 . The exhibition will consist of black and white portraiture of gallery visitors during late November and early December 2012 for 3 week period.
When Ian was asked about his exhibition he said “This exhibition is about how I react with my camera and the subject. Sometimes I am tired, that affects how I see things. There are times when my interaction with the subject is not too clear, and times when I am unsure about my subject. The images are taken in black and white to symbolise how the world is not, that relationships and interactions between people are far more complicated. This could be when they are first met, unknown and also when they are known.”
Ian continued ” One surprise for me during this project was that I took a picture of a man with restricted vision, I seemed to go on auto pilot and made the focus soft, almost as if not wanting to offend Other parts of the project that effected me were how I thought the focus was clear and only on viewing did I notice it was not always so. I hope you enjoy the images and understand that it is not always about the technicality of photography. Sometimes it is about the message or vision you may possess.
From someone who has never seen Ian Davies work, I can say that I am certainly looking forward to it.
The Preview Night for the opening of this exhibition will be on Tuesday 22nd of January at the Leicester Peoples Photographic Gallery and starts at 6PM.
